The Magic of Electricity

Science 7 students started their unit on electricity today. They learned about atoms and the charges of electrons, protons, & neutrons.
Is it magic holding this balloon on the whiteboard? No, just simple electricity!
A willing volunteer: note the fly-away hair, wool sock, and balloon
Who is that masked man? He's picking up pieces of paper with a balloon!

Bending water with a balloon? No way!

Hope you enjoyed these pictures & videos. We are trying out a new cameraman. :)

Floating S's

Today in Science 7, students learned a little about Skittles.

Skittles are made out of sugar, which dissolves easily in water.

What doesn't dissolve so easily in water is...edible ink!

Can you see the floating "S's?"

Adaptations

Science 7 students learned how valuable their opposable thumbs are to them!

Trying to tie their shoes with no thumbs!

San Diego Zoo

Science 7 students went on a virtual field trip this week to the San Diego Zoo. They studied the characteristics of organisms in the Animal kingdom to better understand the diversity of animal life.

Comments from the students were: "I never knew that animal existed! and "This is so cool! I can't wait to spend more time at home learning about this!"

Here are a few pictures from our "trip."
